Incorporating Generative AI as a Productivity Resource
Diving into Generative AI Art with MidJourney v6.1
Recently I decided to dip my toes into the world of generative AI art, starting with MidJourney v6.1. I thought taking a Udemy course would be a great way to learn the ropes—especially when it came to crafting prompts and really understanding how to make AI work for me. But let’s just say the course didn’t quite meet my expectations. The English was hard to follow at times, and the free prompt ebook was honestly a letdown. After flipping through eight pages of almost identical floral images, I was hoping for something with a bit more inspiration!
Playing with prompts & trends
Instead of letting that discourage me, I decided to branch out on my own, experimenting with MidJourney and exploring other AI art tools. Food photography was both fun and frustrating but easier than human anatomy. It was exciting to create these images of burgers in restaurants. I’ve always wanted to learn the splash food photography!
Now, I’m diving into a bunch of different art trends. Beyond just making the AI work, I’m exploring how it can bring everything from food photography and marketing visuals to landscapes, portraits, and vintage-style illustrations to life. Every project is a new opportunity to learn and grow, even if the journey has its quirks.
Frustrations using MidJourney
It didn’t take long to realize that rendering things like anatomy—especially feet in yoga poses—is no walk in the park! Clean lines and realistic detail can be frustratingly elusive, but hey, challenges like this are all part of the fun. As you can see, there are many errors in the renderings that makes me cringe but the color, lighting, and fantasy -styled illustrations are awesome.
For anyone else starting out, my advice? Be patient, experiment, and don’t be afraid to go beyond your initial resources. The possibilities are worth the effort!
